Why
Orthoscopics?
Orthoscopics
offers a totally new way to assess and prescribe lenses and illumination
for visual dyslexia.
Duty of
Care
The optician having the Orthoscopics System available will not
only be exercising his/her duty of care for the patient but will
also have the ability to carry out a wider range of tests which
may be required by legislation under the Disability Act, Education
Act or Health and Safety at Work Act.
Patients
may have to pay for this service but support may be available
from the Local Education Authority who have a legal duty to provide
help for disadvantaged students.
Similarly,
employers under Health and Safety at Work regulations may have
to contribute to the cost. The help could take the form of Optim-Eyes
special lighting or special lenses prescribed by READ-EYE for
use under standard lighting conditions.
Headaches,
migraine, asthenopia and dry eye
Many people report immediate cessation of the above symptoms EVEN
DURING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TESTS and benefit greatly from the
treatments prescribed. These treatments are non-invasive and the
patients themselves can feel the difference and provide the data
that the optician can use to accurately define the colour prescription.
Other conditions can be helped.
Referrals
Referrals from schools are a likely consequence of having the
equipment available and the possibility exists of the need for
the provision of multiple prescription lenses with a variety of
individual tints to meet a variety of environmental and lighting
conditions. The forging of new links with teachers and other professionals
is beneficial and we encourage this through the special packs
included in the ORTHOSCOPICS package.
